One of my favorite things to do with the change of each season is to decorate our front and back porches. I love incorporating a combination of special pieces that I find from my favorite stores with a few natural elements collected from my garden or local nursery.
It’s a time when I embrace everything rustic and as a family we tend to gravitate toward the warm fire out back. There’s nothing like a cozy fall evening sitting together under a few blankets while catching up on our day or making an occasional s’more.
Throughout the Autumn season it seems as if everything from the trees in my neighborhood to the surrounding mountains is awash in rich contrasting colors. I’m always inspired to look for ways to mix the textures and colors by way of leafy branches, colorful pumpkins, acorns and gourds during these beautiful months.
It’s that cozy time of year when temperatures drop and throws are a welcome sight resting on a bench by the front door. My friends usually have baskets filled with boots and umbrellas sitting out front, mums in multiple pots and always an autumnal wreath of some sort hanging nearby.
Decorating our homes during this special season is just one more way to let our guests know that they are truly treasured and welcome.
